Horrible and unusable on Android. It will not respond. Installed and uninstalled 3 times. Locked up my phone, slows down the phone, and crashes the phone. Merlin and iNaturalist work perfectly on my Samsung Galaxy A 54 5G. It's not my phone, it's this app. Seems to work OK on a colleague's iPhone, but nobody with an Android likes it. I have to carry a notebook into the field. I'm on a team checking 66 nest boxes weekly. This needs to be fixed.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble. Please try the new version 3.4.8 in the Play Store. You may also need to clear the app's data (https://www.samsung.com/sg/support/mobile-devices/how-to-clear-the-app-cache-and-data-on-your-galaxy-phone/). You will need to login afterwards. If this doesn't help please contact us here - NestWatch@cornell.edu

edited: as of May 2025, the app is now fully functional again! it's back to being super convenient, efficient, and easy to use original review: unfortunately even fully updated, this app is now completely unusable on android. totally unresponsive. if I can manage to get to the page for one of the nest sites, the "start attempt" button never works, or any other data entry options

UPDATE: Have used this app for the last 5 yrs. Started this season, and app suddenly does not work AT ALL! Freezes up immediately upon opening, sometimes crashes. Re-installing does not help. Very disappointed. ā˜¹ļø OLDER: I love the NestWatch program, and the new design of the app is much more intuitive. It also seems to run more smoothly on my phone. Samsung S24 FE running Android 14.

Hi Julia, Apologies, an update to address these problems is on the way. Be on the lookout for an app update shortly, and in the meantime, please feel free to upload our nest data using our website NestWatch.org. Let us know if you have any questions at nestwatch@cornell.edu.

What’s new

In this update, we are happy to provide you with the following new features
* Nest Groups: Create and manage nest groups to keep your nest list organized. Any nest groups you have created on the website will sync to your device.
* Your nest list can now be filtered by selecting a nest group
* You can also filter your nest list by status

We have also optimized the way data is synced to the app from our servers. Users with large datasets will see a faster sync process.

Thank you NestWatchers!
