The game is kind of addicti the charactersve, but I recommend spending time tracing the characters to really learn them before playing the game. It's a fantastic tool for learning the Hanzi characters, and I like that I can switch between traditional and simplified (Mandarin), as well as between typed and calligraphy characters. I think the developers should consider running the game in a manner like flash cards (no points) as a practice just to learn the meanings of each character.

I would give this app 5 stars if it didn't randomly minimize, on occasion. Also, there have been times when characters will stop falling, and the only way i can get them to start again, is if I pause and unpause the game. I had one occasion where I kept swiping and nothing happened. Otherwise, the game looks great and it a lot of fun. I'm not sure any other app makes it so easy to practice writing hanzi.

I think this is the best app out there for studying the hanzi. I bought the two upgrades (unlocked all characters and brush font). It's not perfect but it's good. I think they could take some notes from "Kanji Study" by Chase Colburn. Suggested improvements would be ways to import/export characters from a text file, updating to HSK 3.0, sorting custom lists, and an option to practice a given character until perfect.

Hi Ryan, thanks for the text file suggestion! We'll include this in the next update, coming in about a week. It'll be an extension of the existing "import" feature (that currently is only for pack files). Regarding HSK 3.0—you should be seeing that already. If it doesn't match what you expect, please email cs@trainchinese.com and we'll try to help!
