NOTE ON GPS SUPPORT: Strava depends on GPS for recording activities. In some devices, the GPS does not work properly and Strava will not record effectively. If your Strava recordings show poor location estimation behavior, please try to update the operating system to the most recent version. There are some devices which have consistently poor performance with no known remedies. On these devices, we restrict installation of Strava, for example the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 and the Galaxy Express 2.

The free version of the app is great. It connects to many brands of devices and gives me a way to interact with others who live farther away. Lately, the app has been offering a free 30 day trial. Like constantly, with a countdown timer. I'd be interested, except I can't actually sign up - the app just gives me an error message. So maybe the developers should make sure the free trial feature works before making a gazillion splash screens that don't work.

GPS tracking with mobile is absolute trash. My route shows random zigzags along the route that turn my 6 mile run into 8. I end up deleting the run to avoid throwing off all my PRs. It isn't a device problem either. I switched from another app that never had these problems. It did a much better job of removing anomalous GPS data. Some friends have Garmin watches and don't seem to have any issues.

Strava used to be so good, but that was long ago. Even when paying for the premium service, the feed is so full of garbage I don't care about that I don't even bother looking anymore. So I stopped paying, and now it nags. A LOT! Honestly, if they would just let me filter the feed to the types of things I'm interested in, that would be enough to get me to subscribe again, but they want to be a social network, not a useful fitness tool.
