About this game

Lapse 2: Before Zero is the official prequel to Lapse: A Forgotten Future. That you are here means, in some way, you were successful in your quest to save the world – or to destroy it. Doesn’t really matter which, since you’re about to travel from a future world into the ancient times. The one who once was President is now Pharaoh, the one who once was a machine is now your most precious ally in the challenge to come.

When you open your eyes, the year is 1750 BC, and the place is ancient Egypt. For some unknown reason, this mysterious land needs your help. Proceed cautiously: what may seem like ruling just another kingdom, may well be the key to the world’s survival.

Lapse 2: Before Zero answers the players’ questions, revealing the mysteries of the first chapter.

I've played the original, and this game is great. Unfortunately, I do have some caveats. I've noticed this game is much longer, by several decades. This hurts realism and more importantly the gameplay. One problem I've had with the first was that; there was a point when I started to swipe left and right just to get to the next part of the story. I was bored. In the this one it's worse since it takes even more time to get to the end. Another part that was troubled me was the scales. For realism, the scales were either balanced for the purity of the heart, or imbalanced because of the evils of the heart. In Egyptian mythology, the feather was absolute and never weighed heavier than the heart. If the scales do affect gameplay; it's really hard to tell which alignment you are once you get past the menu screen where you're at on the scale. Those are my two(four) complaints, but everything else is fine. The addition of event that either lower or increase your stats is a fine edition to the game. It's good that there're events that can kill you if you swipe. It's not too obtrusive, and put you down. It's the right amount. Graphically its superb for the time and setting. The story overall exceeds the original. It give a sense of mystery with sci-fi elements. There are some bugs but nothing game breaking i.e. crashes, freezing. Great job with the game and look forward to the next game.

I recommend taking the games advice and getting at least one ending of the first game before playing this one. It spoils one of the big twists within the opening minutes. To start off, this game has an interesting blend of sci-fi and historical fiction, and just like the previous game, you have to balance the nation's spirituality, happiness, military, and economy, and prevent any one stat from getting too low or high. The choices are also lot more diverse this time around. Easily a 5 star game.

Between 2 lapses, this is definitely my favorite :) I like the whole theme and story much better. If we didn't have to go back to first to get different ending, this would be 5stars(couple of times I forgot which choices I picked, cuzed to repeating the same ending :") . I'm grateful for no ads between the game tho^^ Creator has curious ways to show himself to us, which I find very interesting and useful.
